Brickwork Repairs

We repair damaged brickwork, cracked masonry and deteriorating surfaces where brick or mortar has broken down over time. Our repair approach depends on the condition of the wall, the type of damage and the surrounding structure.

Crack Repairs

Cracks in brickwork can be caused by movement, settlement, moisture, thermal expansion or structural stress. We assess the crack and recommend a suitable repair method based on the cause and severity of the issue.

Repointing & Mortar Repairs

Deteriorating mortar can leave gaps between bricks, weaken the wall and allow water to enter. Repointing involves removing damaged or failing mortar and replacing it with new mortar to help restore strength, appearance and weather protection.

Signs of Damage

Signs Your Brickwork Needs Repair

Brickwork problems often start small but can worsen if the underlying cause is not addressed. It may be time to arrange an inspection if you notice:

Cracks through brickwork or mortar joints

Gaps opening between bricks

Loose, crumbling or missing mortar

Rust stains, damp marks or water entry

Bulging, leaning or uneven brickwork

Cracked masonry around windows, doors or corners

Previous repairs that are failing

Bricks that are chipped, broken or moving

Movement cracks across walls or facades

Deterioration caused by weather, moisture or age

Why Early Repairs Matter

Why Brickwork Repairs Should Be Done Early

Damaged brickwork can allow moisture to enter, weaken surrounding materials and lead to further movement or deterioration. What starts as a small crack or missing mortar can become a larger repair issue if left untreated.

Early brickwork repairs can help protect the structure, improve appearance, reduce moisture-related damage and maintain the long-term performance of your property.

Restore Appearance

Repair cracked, damaged or deteriorating masonry to improve the look of your property.

Reduce Water Entry

Address failing mortar, gaps and cracks that may allow moisture into the wall.

Support Long-Term Durability

Repair methods are selected to suit the condition, cause and location of the damage.

Protect Building Integrity

Early repairs can help reduce the risk of further movement, cracking or deterioration.

Common Causes

Common Causes of Brickwork Damage

Brickwork damage can occur for several reasons. Understanding the likely cause helps determine the most suitable repair approach.

Common causes include:

Building movement or settlement

Moisture ingress

Weather exposure and salt air

Deteriorating mortar

Thermal expansion and contraction

Impact damage

Poor drainage

Ageing materials

Structural stress

Previous repairs that have failed

Austech Cement can assess the damaged area and recommend a practical repair solution based on the condition of the surface and the needs of the property.
