Waterproofing Systems South Coast

Waterproofing, concrete sealing and surface protection solutions for concrete, rendered and exposed surfaces across residential, commercial, industrial and strata projects.

Waterproofing & Surface Protection

Protect Concrete, Rendered & Exposed Surfaces from Moisture Damage

Water ingress is one of the most common causes of concrete and building deterioration. Without the right protection, moisture can contribute to cracking, corrosion, mould, surface failure and long-term structural damage.

Austech Cement provides waterproofing systems and concrete sealing across the South Coast, helping protect concrete, rendered and exposed surfaces from moisture damage, surface wear and everyday exposure.

Based in Dolphin Point, we work from Wollongong to Eden across residential, commercial, industrial and strata projects.

Concrete Waterproofing & Surface Protection

Waterproofing and Sealing for Long-Term Surface Protection

Waterproofing and sealing both play an important role in protecting building surfaces, but they are not the same.

Waterproofing systems are designed to help stop water from penetrating a surface or structure, while concrete sealing helps protect the surface from moisture, staining, wear and contaminants.

Austech Cement assesses the surface condition, exposure, usage and project requirements before recommending the most suitable waterproofing or sealing solution. Our focus is on proper preparation, practical system selection and long-term protection.

Concrete Sealing

Concrete sealing helps protect surfaces from water absorption, oil, staining, contaminants and general wear. It can improve durability, make surfaces easier to clean and help extend the lifespan of concrete in residential, commercial and industrial environments.

Surface Preparation & Protective Coatings

Proper preparation is essential for reliable waterproofing, sealing and coating performance. Depending on the surface, this may include cleaning, grinding, crack repair, patching or preparing the substrate for adhesion. Protective coatings may also be recommended where additional resistance to moisture, traffic, weather or environmental exposure is required.

Signs of Waterproofing Failure

Damage Caused by Waterproofing Failure

Failing or inadequate waterproofing can lead to serious structural and aesthetic issues. Moisture can enter concrete, rendered surfaces or building structures and cause damage that becomes more costly over time.

Common problems include:

Water Leaks

Moisture entering internal or external areas can cause visible staining, dampness and damage.

Cracked or Deteriorating Concrete

Water can weaken concrete over time, especially when it reaches cracks, joints or exposed areas.

Concrete Cancer & Spalling

Moisture can contribute to corrosion of steel reinforcement, leading to cracking, rust staining and concrete breaking away.

Mould & Damp Issues

Ongoing moisture can create unhealthy environments and affect internal finishes.

Surface Staining & Wear

Water, oil and contaminants can affect the appearance and durability of exposed concrete surfaces.

Concrete Sealing

Concrete Sealing for Surface Protection

Concrete sealing is a practical way to protect concrete surfaces from moisture absorption, staining, surface contaminants and everyday wear. It is often used after surface preparation, grinding or repair work to help improve durability and maintain the appearance of the concrete.

Concrete sealing may be suitable for:

Driveways and paths

Patios and outdoor areas

Garages and car parks

Commercial floors and walkways

Industrial surfaces

External concrete areas

Prepared or repaired concrete surfaces

Depending on the surface and product used, sealing may provide a natural, matte or slightly enhanced finish.

Waterproofing vs Concrete Sealing

What Is the Difference Between Waterproofing and Concrete Sealing?

Waterproofing and concrete sealing are both protective systems, but they are used for different purposes.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is designed to help stop water ingress and protect structures from moisture penetration. It is often used in high-risk areas such as rooftops, podium decks, balconies, wet areas, exposed slabs and remedial projects.

Concrete Sealing

Concrete sealing helps protect the surface from moisture, stains, oils, wear and contaminants. It can improve the appearance and maintenance of concrete, but it is not always suitable as a full waterproofing solution where water pressure or constant moisture is present.

Austech Cement can assess your project and recommend whether waterproofing, sealing or a combination of both is required.

Our Process

Our Waterproofing & Sealing Process

From surface assessment to final checks, we take a practical approach to waterproofing, sealing and concrete protection.

Step 1

Surface Assessment

We assess the area, surface condition, exposure risks and signs of moisture damage before recommending a suitable waterproofing or sealing approach.

Step 2

Preparation

Proper preparation is essential. This may include cleaning, grinding, crack repairs, patch repairs or preparing the surface for adhesion.

Step 3

System Selection

We select a suitable waterproofing, sealing or protective coating system based on the substrate, exposure and project requirements.

Step 4

Application

The selected system is applied using professional techniques, with care taken to achieve consistent coverage and reliable performance.

Step 5

Final Check

We inspect the completed work for consistency, finish and suitability before the project is handed over.
